Oakland Youth Orchestra Bridge Lesson Scholarship Program

The Oakland Youth Orchestra Bridge Lesson Scholarship Program was developed to help provide private music lessons to those students who would greatly benefit from this individualized instruction but may not be able to afford them. Now in its fifth year, this program works in partnership with the OEBS MUSE Program teachers and the process is fairly simple.

The first step is for you to identify the students and complete the Nomination Form online below.  We will then contact the families of each of your students requesting completion of the Lesson Assistance Form and a copy of their latest Federal Tax returns.  As this part of the process is usually the most difficult, we may ask your assistance as you have the best relationship with the students and their families.

Once all of the necessary paperwork is in place, we will work with you to determine the best private teacher, both in manner of teaching and geographical proximity.  When we have a new student to the program we usually fund 10 initial lessons with an evaluation by the private teacher mid way through the process.
