Kristin Arendt, trombone

Kristin will attend UC Berkeley. Kristin is interested in gymnastics, computers, and music of course. Kristin is a member of the National Honor Society and Computer Club President.

Andrew Ardizzoia, french horn

Andrew will attend University of the Pacific. Andrew is student conductor of the John Swett High School Band and former member of the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra and Young Artists Symphony Orchestra

Victor Chang, violin & piano

Victor will attend UCSD. Victor participated in the Junior Bach Festival for the past five years. Victor is interested in medicine and plans on studying music in college.

Caleb Chu, cello

Caleb will attend UC Berkeley. Caleb participates in varsity at Monte Vista High. Caleb is a member of the debate team and participated in the All State School Orchestra. Caleb is a member of the California Scholarship Federation.

Jenna Conrad, cello

Jenna will attend Macalister College. Jenna plans on working and camping with her family upon graduation.

Zach Cummings, bassoon

Zach will attend The Peabody Conservatory. Zach was winner of the Bank of America Achievement Award, member of the Contra Costa County Honor Band, and member of the CMEA All-State Honor Orchestra.

Helene Divjak, cello

Helene will attend Macalister College. Helene was a member of the prize winning Acalanes High orchestra which captured first prize at the Mt. Hood Orchestra Festival. Helene plans on traveling over the summer and majoring in English.

Mary Dougherty, violin

Mary will attend Macalister College. Mary is concertmaster of the Berkeley High School Orchestra and was recently a National Merit Scholarship finalist. Mary is a member if the the California Scholarship Foundation.

Debbie Fan, cello

Debbie will attend UC Berkeley. Debbie has been winner of the local concerto competitions sponsored by the Contra Costa String Association and the Music teacher’s Association. Debbie is interested in music as well as art.

Anna Filippova, violin

Anna will attend UC Davis. Anna is a member of the National Honor Society and winner of the National Sciences Merit Award. Anna is also interested in singing and astrology.

Mike Hammond, clarinet

Mike will attend UCLA. Mike was voted Best Soloist at the Folsom Jazz Festival.

Karen Johnson, oboe

Karen will attend San Diego State. Karen performed with the Acalanes Choral Ensemble at carnegie Hall. Karen is interested in theater as well as music.

June Lee, violin

June will attend UC Davis. June was a member of Bishop O’Dowd’s Honor Roll and Treasurer of the Key Club. June is an avid biker, swimmer, and volleyball player.

Lucy Liao, violin

Lucy will attend UC Berkeley. Lucy was a member of the varsity tennis and track team. Lucy was Treasurer of the California Scholarship Federation. Lucy also enjoys rollerblading and coffee.

Christopher Lucas, violin

Christopher will attend Stanford. Christopher was a member of the Hayward High Jazz Band and Symphonic Band as a trombonist. Christopher would like to travel across the U. S. upon graduation.

Elizabeth Morgan, piano

Elizabeth will attend Julliard. Elizabeth was winner of the 1997 OYO Concerto Competition.

Randy Nagata,cello

Randy will attend Saint Mary’s College.

Anna Parnes, cello

Anna will attend Stanford University. Anna was editor in chief of the high school newspaper at Miramonte High and a volunteer at the teen to teen hot line.

Scott Pollack, oboe

Scott will attend UC Berkeley. Scott performs with the Oakland Lyric Opera and the UC Berkeley Symphony. Scott was winner of the Phala Dann Award and national PTA Visual and Performing Arts reflection Contest. Scott enjoys skiing, teaching oboe, and making time bombs.

Amy Tang, violin

Amy will attend UC Berkeley. Amy was voted Junior Statesman of America in 1996. Amy plans on working in a law firm after graduation and traveling to Hong Kong.

Caitlin Taylor-Johnson, flute

Caitlin will attend UC Santa Cruz. Caitlin participated in the Junior Bach Festival in 1996 and 1997. Caitlin is a member of the women’s a capella group Sirens.

Jeffrey Tong, violin

Jeffrey will attend UC Berkeley. Jeffrey is a member of the Academic Honors Society. Jeffrey is concertmaster of the Berkeley High Symphony Orchestra and has performed solo with that ensemble. Jeffrey is interested in traveling the world and will study engineering in college.

Jennifer Toy, violin

Jennifer will attend Harvard. Jennifer’s interests include softball, tennis and la crosse. Jennifer plans on traveling to Mexico upon graduation.

Xinru Woo, violin

Xinru will attend Stanford University. Xinru was winner of the Lockheed Martin Scholarship and is a winner of the Wellesley Book Award.

Jane Yoon, violin

Jane will attend UC Berkeley. Jane is a former member of YASO and is interested in hiking and running. Jane also plays the piano at church. Jane will travel to Korea this summer.

William Yu, violin

William will attend Stanford University. William was a member of the UC Berkeley High School Honors program. William is interested in art, basketball, and Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders.
